Symptoms of Varicose Veins in Legs
Symptoms of Varicose Veins in Legs: People with vein problems may present with one or many symptoms. Frequently misdiagnosed, individuals with vein disease are treated for Charlie horses, cramping legs, neuropathy, restless leg, and even offered water pills (diuretics) for years before they are found to have vein disease. Here there are some of the most frequent vein signs and symptoms:
Visible Veins: Varicose veins are often visible on the surface of the skin and may appear twisted or bulging. They are commonly found on the thighs, calves, or inside of the legs. Remember that visible veins are just one of many signs and symptoms of venous disease and may not be present in all patients.
Aching or Heaviness: Individuals with varicose veins may experience aching, heaviness, or discomfort in the legs, especially after prolonged periods of standing.
Swelling: Swelling, particularly around the ankles and feet, can occur due to the pooling of blood in the veins.
Skin Changes: Skin around varicose veins may become discolored, and in severe cases, skin ulcers may develop.
Many other symptoms of vein disease may mimic other conditions. If you have leg symptoms, please schedule a consultation with our vascular specialists for a thorough evaluation, discuss your symptoms and medical history, and recommend appropriate measures for treatment.
